With the start of the 2020 hurricane season, it’s always better to be prepared in advance. In the event we have an active hurricane season (which is what the NOAA is currently predicting for this year), I wanted to share some valuable information and resources to help you get ready for any upcoming inclement weather conditions.

Check out my list of helpful resources below:

  1. Think you may have to evacuate at some point?  It’s important to have a plan in advance.  Check out the Red Cross’s Disaster Preparedness Plan to help you get started.  Also, be sure to know your evacuation zone in advance.
  2. Have a power outage? Trees down? Know who to call by printing out the NOAA Extreme Weather Information Sheet. This is a comprehensive list of state and county phone numbers to call for various situations during a storm.
  3. Make sure that you have a hurricane supply kit in advance too. The Florida Division Of Emergency Management has a great one to take a look at.
  4. Prepare your home in advance + take look at your home owner’s insurance.  Trim up your trees, repair any doors or windows that have leaks, clear your gutters.  It’s also a great time to review your home owner’s insurance with your agent and make sure that you are comfortable with the coverage that you have.

I hope these resources are helpful to you and please stay safe!
